On Thursday, May 10, a single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Grantsburg High School senior in the town of Wood River.
The 18-year-old was traveling south around 1 a.m. on North Williams Road when her vehicle veered off of the roadway and flipped over. When police arrived on the scene, they found the car upside down. Emergency personnel pronounced the teenager dead at the scene.
An investigation has been launched regarding the causes surrounding the accident. Initial reasoning involved excessive speed, but an official response has yet to be released.
